Leila Gardunia lives in Chesterfield, Missouri and when she’s not cutting up fabric, you'll find her listening to audiobooks while cleaning the kitchen, working to convince her five kids and husband they really don't need to get a dog, and trying to sleep in.

Leila co-authored You Can Quilt! Building Skills for Beginners (AQS, 2015) and teaches a beginning piecing course, You Can Piece!, at iquilt.com. You can learn more about her and see more of her quilts and patterns at leilagardunia.com .

  • Scrappy Mountain Range Quilt: This is a project based class where we will work on making the Scrappy Mountain Range quilt that I am running right now as a quilt along. (https://www.leilagardunia.com/blog/mountain-range-quilt-along) I will provide a printed quilt pattern (not foundations), tips on how to choose and organize their foundations, the importance of labeling, and foundation paper piecing help. Students should be familiar with basic foundation paper piecing. Scrappy Mountain Range pattern purchase will be required in addition to the class fee. I will provide a coupon code for the participants and give them a list of what foundations they will need to print for the class. 6 hour class, 20 student maximum, $500.

  • If there is a sizable group that is unfamiliar with foundation paper piecing, I can also teach a beginning FPP class. 3 hours, $300

When I say students need to be familiar with foundation paper piecing, they don't need to be experts, but they do need to have made one or two blocks before - even if it is just a couple weeks before the class. I have a guide to foundation paper piecing on my blog: https://www.leilagardunia.com/blog/how-to-foundation-paper-piece. And my Scrappy Triangles are great beginner blocks. They can download them for free here: https://www.leilagardunia.com/blog/year-of-scrappy-triangles.
